We helped Marriott implement innovations into their development process including rapid prototyping, quicker release cycles, and collaborative UX and development.
Marriott’s redesigned, re-engineered flagship mobile apps generated over $1 billion in eCommerce revenue, were downloaded over 5 million times, and were the first in the hospitality industry to include new iOS features at the time, such as mobile keyless entry, PassKit, and watchOS support.
Marriott was looking to transition its apps away from the Kony write-once-deploy-everywhere platform. Apps were slow to update when the iOS and Android platforms updated, and new adding features was virtually impossible. Further, Marriott as an organization wasn’t built for agile development, and was working on year-long release cycles.
We helped architect a new API layer, re-platformed for native iOS and Android, created mock API endpoints to speed development efforts, managed all defect triage for the API and app suite, shaped dozens of new dev ops processes for Marriott IT, and pioneered a new UX process for rapidly prototyping new features.
